Our verse for 2026 is Isaiah 43:19 – “See, I am doing a new thing … I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” And, as you will hear in the banquet testimonies included in this newsletter, GOD IS MAKING A WAY!
Yet some days, it does feel like we are still very much in the wilderness or the wasteland. While laws that promoted more than 50 years of a death culture in our country have been overturned, it will take time for hearts to soften and for abortion to become unthinkable.
Iowa has life affirming laws in place – yet there are still an average of 80+ abortions occurring per week. That’s about 20 live births for every 1 abortion in Iowa. Things are different on the east side of the Mississippi River. Illinois now proudly advertises that the state provides almost 25% of abortions that occur in the United States, and has implemented an abortion tourism marketing campaign. Illinois averages 2,400 live births per week and conservatively Illinois provides 1,800 abortions per week – more than 1 abortion every 6 minutes.
We know at least 1 in 10 women who have an abortion will experience major medical complications and require immediate intervention. That means this month nearly 850 women in our two beautiful states will need immediate help because of severe abortion complications.
Behind every one of those numbers is a person making a difficult decision. This is where Pregnancy Resources steps in and God can make a way. We are not the people who write or change laws— but we are changing circumstances by offering free pregnancy testing and ultrasounds that make a pregnancy real, facilitating life-affirming factual options education for informed decisions, and by providing practical help that reduces the pressure to abort.
